Preparing the furniture specification for a hospitality project
Organise the enquiry by room and piece
A lobby, guest room and restaurant have different use and maintenance requirements. Group the enquiry by type — sofas, headboards, armchairs, benches and chairs — with drawings, dimensions and quantities. Identify finishes shared across pieces and models that need variants.
Specify performance and documentation
Include the project’s requirements for durability, cleaning and fire performance in the specification pack. Abrasion resistance and fire performance are separate characteristics: a Martindale rating does not replace a fire test. Check technical data and documentation for the selected materials against the project specification.
Plan delivery and installation
Define the destination, construction programme, access and installation sequence. For phased supply, identify floors or areas and the quantities needed in each delivery. Confirm finishes and samples before the production run; later changes can affect timing and should be reviewed against the programme.
What to include with the specification pack
- A schedule of pieces, quantities and dimensions by space.
- Drawings and references for materials, colours and finishes.
- Performance requirements and requested project documentation.
- Destination, access, schedule and installation phases.
Common questions
Can you use the architect’s specified fabric?
Yes, we accept COM/COL — customer-supplied fabric or leather. The sample and required quantity are checked before production, together with the project requirements.
Does a production run have the same lead time as a residential piece?
Hospitality schedules depend on the types of pieces, quantities, materials and phasing. Timing and deliveries are confirmed in the project-specific quotation.
Can you prepare documentation for the project?
We supply technical data and material documentation for specification packs. State the requirements at the outset so the selected materials and documents match the intended specification.
